SAKKAL - CUVISM - FINE ART

Verdanesque, 2004

Description

My experience being in the woods are some of the fondest memories of my childhood; frolicking by a stream of gurgling water in search of salamanders that hid among the rocks in the woods in a valley of the Shawangunk Mountains in upstate New York.

My mother and I would idle away summer weeks in a small cottage and my father would ride the bus up from the city on weekends to join us. We had well water, ice-box refrigeration and a cast-iron belly stove for heat if the nights got too cold and of course, the nearby stream, all of which formed cherished experiences and magical memories which found their way into this composition.
