SAKKAL - CUVISM - FINE ART

Climax, 1982

Description

One of earliest collages created by the artist as he learned to work with the medium of paper. The process he used at the time involved juxta positioning, or the merging and transitioning of colored pieces across the span of the surface. Texture was incorporated in the color paper blends as the work receded from a focal point to the outer edges of the forming composition. All the time the artist was quickly rotating the work in search of a composition that was balanced from all four sides. The artist was learning the skill of painting with paper by a process he would come to define as color gradation.
