It was not until this work was 95% completed that its subject matter was realized: global warming, climate change and concern for the damaging effects it is having on the environment. Unconsciously, it seemed the mind of the artist was churning with a concern that climate change is the most serious issue facing humanity.
Visually, the unconscious mind sees the work emerging well before, the artist, consciously becomes aware what the composition wants to be. When this awareness comes into fruition, the artist adds the final piece enhancements. In this case two deliberate, consciously formed decisions that locked down the works intent, were added; the partial word “earth” and a large, round, barren stone at the center of the piece. The rock symbolizes what planet Earth, like its sister planet Mars, could become someday, if world leaders like Donald Trump and Michael Pence insist on considering climate change to be nothing more than a hoax and do nothing to control its advance.
