George Sakkal is an artist, author, and educator, among other various professions. A man of various talents and much experience, he is well known for his work in collage art and his breakthrough discovery of CUVISM.
Life Experience
George Sakkal grew up in Brooklyn, New York, and moved to a small town in Pennsylvania when he was ten years old. His changing environments, which began during his formative years, gave him a well-rounded experience in and perception of the world, thus broadening his scope in creating fine art.
Now currently residing in Baltimore, Maryland, Sakkal has an extensive resume in many different fields as well. His professions include Peace Corps volunteer architect and Associate Peace Corps Director in Iran and Principle Planner, Editor, and Director of Research Publications for the Baltimore Regional Council of Governments.
Not the least of his professions is Collage artist. For over 50 years, his avocation has been the creation of Fine art. Since his first collage in 1962 at the School of Architecture at Texas A&M University, he has won several national and regional competitions of the Washington, D.C., and Baltimore areas and has a fine body of collage art pieces, archival prints of which are available on his website. He has also lectured and taught collage and his discovery of CUVISM at the University of Maryland’s Community College of Columbia.
The Discovery of CUVISM
True research never ends. After publishing an article titled The Problem with Postmodern Art Theory in the America Arts Quarterly Journal in 2009, George Sakkal launched his ongoing research in cognitive neuroscientific psychology. Through his study of neuroscientific data, Sakkal discovered CUVISM, short for Cognitive Unconscious Visual Creativity. Sakkal was able to test scientifically the hallmark but opposing art theories of artists Paul Cezanne and Marcel Duchamp, ultimately proving Cezanne and disproving Duchamp. CUVISM encompasses the process of the brain in the creation of fine art and its methodology.

The art of George Sakkal encompasses a variety of art styles in the form of collage, including realism and abstract expressionism. His body of work includes urban scenes, nature scenes, and fantastical scenes that form a collage of images, ideas, and colors to create one whole subject.
